High Voltage Protection Canopies

Technical Data Sheet

 Product Description

Our Protective Canopies are used particularly in high-voltage applications where this is a risk of falling objects. They allow work to be completed as normal whilst reducing risk to personnel.

  Applications

Main application of the canopy is to support a typical hollow bushing insulator, or similar, falling from height and anticipating that it falls on its end. This provides protection for the most onerous loading onto the roof panel. A maximum of 100mm internal deflection of the roof is the proposed limit after an event. A copper earthing point is installed in the event that the canopy becomes live following impact.

Features

  • Fully fabricated and factory finished
  • Heavy duty 200mm diameter wheels to allow the unit to be moved easily into position
  • Swivel/brake to allow for manoeuvrability

Model 1

To withstand an impact of 60kg falling from a height of 20 metres.

Model 2

To withstand an impact of 90kg falling from a height of 20 metres.

Bespoke options are also available to suit other weights and shapes of objects.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are protective screens?

Protective screens are glazed security partitions designed to protect staff and cash handling areas from ballistic, blast and physical attack while still allowing natural light and clear communication. Blast & Ballistics protective screens are engineered systems – frames and glazing tested together – used in banks, ticket offices, reception desks and other high-risk environments.

  • What performance levels can your protective screens achieve?

Our ballistic and blast-rated protection screens are available with certified performance to:

BS EN 1522/23 FB2–FB7 and EN 1063 BR2–BR7 (handguns up to 7.62 AP rifle)

    NIJ 0108.01 Level 1–IV

    UL 752 Level 1–9

EN 356 attack glazing for manual/forced-entry resistance

This means a single screen system can be configured for ballistic, blast and attack protection to match your threat level.

  • What features can be built into protective screens?

Blast & Ballistics screens can incorporate pay and transaction windows, cash trays or drawers, speech transfer units and disabled-height counter positions. Systems can be supplied in stainless steel, aluminium or timber-framed constructions, with a choice of PPC, anodised or stainless finishes to suit the surrounding interior. Matching ballistic doors and glazed airlocks are also available

  • Do your protective screens use “No Spall” glazing?

Yes. In cash offices and reception areas, staff often sit very close to the glazing, so “No Spall” ballistic glass is strongly recommended. Our screens are available with no-spall glazing that prevents glass fragments from being thrown towards the staff side when the window is shot, significantly reducing the risk of injury while maintaining clear visibility.

  • Where are protective screens typically used?

Protective screens are designed for commercial, public and military environments, including:

    • Cash and ticket offices
    • Reception counters and conference centres
    • Banks and financial institutions
    • High-security public buildings and control rooms

Because the systems are modular and fully glazed, they allow ample light into the workspace, creating a pleasant environment for staff while delivering high levels of ballistic and blast protection.
